A riveting story of utmost grief and hardship. The author vividly describes the horrors of that time while at the same time the love, commitment, humanity, and sacrifice of the people. A beautiful example of the depths of the human spirit. The characters are so real you grieve with them and shed tears at the horror they endured. Everyone should read this book lest history repeat itself.
